From January 1, 2021, all shipments arriving at the EU from the UK or leaving the EU to the UK, are subject to customs clearance.
If your company is carrying out customs transactions to and from the UK, it should acquire the necessary EORI NUMBER for customs transactions, in order to be recognized by the customs offices in the European Union.

The following documents are usually required for customs clearance:
– COMMERCIAL INVOICE
– PACKING LIST
– LOADING (Bill of Lading for sea cargo, CMR for road cargo, air waybill for air cargo)
– CERTIFICATES OF ΑPPROPRIATENESS / CONFORMITY (e.g. depending on the type of the product, Health Certificate for food products, Certificate of conformity for electrical / mechanical / medical equipment, MSDS and Certificate of Analysis for chemicals, etc.)
Additional documents may be required, as appropriate, depending on the type of goods that are being traded. For this reason, before each shipment, it is advised to consult your customs broker for the required documents.
The following information should be mentioned in the basic shipment documentaries (Commercial Invoice, Packing List, bill of lading).
– Complete exporter details
– Complete importer details
– Value and currency of the transaction
– Description of goods
– Country of origin of goods
– HS CODE of goods (optional)
– Description and quantity of packaging
– Net and gross weight
– Incoterms
Moreover, not only the products coming from the EU are exempt from the obligation to pay import duties when entering the UK, but also the products coming from the UK when entering the EU.
For this exempt to be valid, the following statement should be included in the invoice of the transaction, or any other commercial document:
The exporter of the products covered by this document (Exporter Reference No … (2)) declares that, except where otherwise clearly indicated, these products are of … (3) preferential origin…………………………………………………………………………………………………….(4)
